Glass...
It isn't by accident that my studio is informally named "Pain-in-the-Glass Studios". Burns. Splinters. Sharp pieces just waiting for an unexpecting footstep. But, oh the results! Glass has special and unique properties. In its raw sheet form, it is seductive. Colors play and light dances. Place a piece in the kiln to melt and unexpected things happen. Or, take a fragile glass rod, melt it in a flame, then spin it onto a mandrel for a beautiful lampwork bead. I can't help but feel that glass is almost alive.
