Ceramics

Making ceramics brings back my childhood memories of making mud pies in the yard.  As my hands grew dirty, I added "secret ingredients" of seeds, leaves and flowers.  Now I can see that I never grew beyond that.

Now, I love to cast my own molds, using flowers, leaves, seashells, vintage jewelry and other delights.  A special day spent in San Diego's own Quail Botanical Gardens, where I had permission to take samples of newly grown leaves and flowers.   Seashells and starfish leave the everlasting impression of gathering shells upon a beach.  Vintage jewelry and lace.  Hand-carved symbols of everything from Ancient Runes to American Hobo symbols connect us to the knowledge and wisdom of other times.

All my work is either hand-rubbed bisque or beautifully glazed.  Each and every piece is one of a kind, since only fate decides the results.  I love the drama of a ceramic pendant strung upon a simple cord.  It's truly a piece of wearable art.

This gorgeous piece is cast from a real starfish.  It is in tones of blue, teal and antique gold.

This scallop shells is lovely in tones of green, sage and sand.

This is a eucalyptus bloom from my yard, in soft matte blues.

At my shows you will find a delightful selection of pendants, ready to be strung and forever treasured.
