Collage Pendants and Ornaments
There is something special about an antique book, no matter how damaged. Like an injured kitten, you can't help but want to take it home and nurse it back to health.
I have always held antique and vintage books and images in high regard. No matter how advanced our technology, nothing can replace the feeling of holding history in your hand, In their yellowed pages, you can feel the presence of those who have held it before you.
I have tried to recapture that feeling with my collage pendants. Using tattered pages from vintage and antique books, I have encased pieces within glass, and soldered them within to preserve them forever. All these pendants are one-of-a-kind... never to be repeated, even by myself.
This is a special beauty. This delicate and lovingly colored paper doll was found tucked between the pages of a 1906 children's book.

Illusion Pendants and Ornaments
An ethereal image, beyond imagination. An antique or vintage image is painstaking changed from a mere book fragment to a wonderful work of art. Each pendant takes days to create. In a specialized process, the paper is actually removed leaving the ink, and perhaps a few fibers. In some pendants, I artistically remove more or less paper, then apply them to the tops of an opaque pendant base. The decoupage-like result is so romantic! Other times, I remove as much paper as the image allows, then encase it in glass. The resulting transparency may be viewed from either side. The passing light illuminates the image. Maps and etchings take on a haunting beauty. Once again: these are one-of-a-kind. Their historical value alone makes them unique to themselves.

My Illusion Pendants carefully preserve ink (in this case a vintage map of France) while allowing me to remove paper. Here, you can see another pendant (of antique blue glass) clearly behind it! These are totally unique to Lume di Luna Designs.
